Proverbs 3:5-6, KJV: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
It seems that life often throws us a curve. You think you are following the right path, or doing the right thing, or following God’s direction, and then it hits you. The unexpected happens; or you discover that the path you thought you saw so clearly was the wrong path. Somewhere along the way you missed it. That can be a hard place in which to find yourself. You begin to question, and struggle, and question some more. “How could I have missed it?” you ask yourself. “Where did I go wrong?” you ask the Father. Let not your heart be troubled. God knows better than we how we can get our wires crossed and misunderstand His direction. He knows that even with our best intentions of following Him that we will choose a wrong path from time to time and have to be shown the error of our way. The good news is that He is faithful to bring us back to where we need to be and He is ready and able to help us to get there. So don’t panic. Just come to Him and confess your misunderstanding. Ask Him for help to restore you to where He wants you to be. Many of us have discovered that life is often a series of encounters with forks in the road. Which way do you go? The way you believe God wants you to go. And what if it turns out the way you believed He wanted you to go was incorrect? Then do what you need to get back to the right path. And be sure that in what you do; in the motives of your heart; and in all your ways that you truthfully acknowledge God…and trust that He will indeed direct your paths.
