The Way of Escape

1 Cor. 10:12-13, NKJV: Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
It can be like being in the belly of a pitch black cave. The darkness envelops you. You are looking for one thing, and only one thing—the way out. And when you discover the way out, it will be clearly marked by one thing; and that is light. When you finally see the light, you are overjoyed and your spirit renewed because you have found your way; and there is hope once again. As we walk through life and the periodic personal valley of the shadows, we will often feel surrounded by ominous and ever-present temptations—temptations to give in to wants or ambitions; temptations to give up on a path believed to be God directed; or temptations to simply just give out when things seem unbearable. And though these times are difficult, troublesome, wearisome, or hurtful; the Light cannot be consumed by the darkness—the temptation cannot overcome the God who will bring you victory. When tempted away from trusting Christ, we must draw ever more near to Him; sitting at His feet, listening to His Word; resting in His lap. As the darkness tries to wrap around us, we must wrap ourselves in Christ. When the darkness pursues us, it is then we must pursue the Light more fervently. Go to Him, pray, open the Bible, and don't leave His side until He shows you the Light—the way of your escape.
