Isaiah 40:29-31, NIV: "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Some days seem so very dark in the valley of the shadows. But hear the words of Jesus as He says now to you, "let not your heart be troubled." Hear Jesus say to you, "My peace I give you;" hear Him above the storms of your life as He commands your storms, "Peace...be still." We know the world in which we live is at various times so very hard to deal with. Sometimes nothing makes sense. Sometimes people let us down. Sometimes things seem hopeless. Yet, we have hope because we know Godís light will overcome the darkness; His love will overwhelm the shadows; His peace will set still the most tumultuous times. When we are weary we can find rest; and we can learn to proclaim as David, "I will fear no evil: for thou art with me" (Psalm 23:4). "Why are you downcast, O my soul?" the Psalmist asks, "Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God" (Psalm 42:11). Like David, we face our giants from time to time. Like David, we can find in God all we need to see past the giants to the victory God has already won for us.
