Hebrews 11:6, NIV: And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

“Where is your faith?” Jesus asked his disciples. When it comes to trusting God with everything from the ordinary to the extraordinary, do we draw lines? Is our faith chained to our insecurities, or bound behind the walls of our own understanding? It is not enough to trust God in some things, and not in others. He is trustworthy regardless of the circumstances. And yet, we will find ourselves in times where we choose to trust in ourselves. In such times, we may wonder where God was. Perhaps we sometimes expect the rewards from God without earnestly seeking Him and placing faith in Him. A lot of people expect God to be the Father that stands back and lets us do it on our own--only stepping in when we are about to fail. And after He does not step in, we might resent Him angrily asking, “…and where was God?” The real question is, where were we? Were we seeking Him earnestly? If we earnestly seek God, we will reap the rewards of seeking Him. If we seek our own, will we not reap the benefits that come from doing life without God? The choice is ours with what we will trust Him completely--and where we will draw our lines of faith.
