Colossians 1:18, NKJV: And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
Imagine a man of God who, while looking for a church to pastor, delivers a sermon, and is more excited about what the people might receive from God through Him than with how well the people will receive he himself. Imagine a church that, while looking for a pastor, is more interested in what God may say to them through the sermons of those who come to speak, than they are in the man’s qualifications, speaking ability, or resume’. Imagine if all of the normal church business proceedings were pursued and anticipated in such a way as to provide the Holy Spirit opportunity to do what He desires. Imagine if we the church ceased to restrict our limitless Lord to the confines of our own limitations. If we were to set aside our traditions, expectations, perceived ideals, rituals, and religiosity--imagine what God would do in and through His church.
