Matthew 26:41, KJV: Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

“How can a person be more passionate about God?” the man sincerely inquired. “Perhaps by being less passionate about himself,” was the reply. It seems an age-old tug of war that ensues daily between the weak flesh and the willing spirit within each of us. With one hand we cling tightly to our own dreams, wants, and ambitions. With the other, we try to maintain our grip on the things of God. Drawing near to God we discover that as we relinquish more of ourselves, and all we want, that we desire more of God, His goodness, His grace, and all that He brings. There is, perhaps, no formula, or magic trick that we can find and follow to help us to desire God more. We can only simply want Him more than anything else, and then watch all else fade in comparison.
