Among the Thorns

Matthew 13:22 NIV: The one who received the seed that fell among
the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the
deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful.
We are among so many things that can choke the Word in us. The cares of life, making a living, pursuing worldly gain or ambitions, to name a few, all have the potential of choking Godís Word in us--making us unfruitful. Look into the eyes of Christians and what is it you see? Do you see the sparkle of light of a soul contented in Christ? Or do you see eyes like so many others that reflect the cares of this life? Shall we bear fruit? Or shall we be afflicted by the thorns? It may seem so very hard to be still before God when the world around you is spinning at such a high rate of speed. Yet the only way to take back the ground weíve lost is to kneel on it, and get our eyes off lifeís cares and onto Christís concerns; making His concerns ours, and giving us the opportunity to learn the joys of being the fruit bearers He created us to be.
