Lamentations 3:25, NKJV: The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.
Abraham and Sarah understood what it meant to wait for the Lord. He had revealed His plans to them to give them a son, and to make Abraham the father of many nations. Abraham and Sarah did what so many of us would do, or have done--they took matters into their own hands. They attempted to work out for themselves the purposes of God in their lives, in their own way, and by their own timetable. But, “the Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you…” (2 Peter 3:9). Responding to our circumstances using human reasoning or worldly wisdom is something that often brings more headaches than solutions. God’s plan for us is something He is bringing about in His time, and His way. Our primary responsibility is to seek Him, follow where He leads, trust Him when things don’t make sense to us, and wait for Him as we journey forward.
