Deuteronomy 31:6, NIV: Be strong and courageous. Do not be
afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he
will never leave you nor forsake you.
A rumor has circulated. A job is lost. A friend has betrayed a confidence. A
child is arrested. A test failed. A dream is shattered. A pet is lost. A loved
one dies. From the simple setbacks, to the most traumatic tragedies, God is with
us. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He is ever present, ever at work in
our lives, and ever ready to bring comfort to a broken heart. Through a moment
of tears, His love is difficult to see, but truly unmistakably present. We
sometimes see such circumstances as ruining our lives. We see no hope, and
cannot foresee how we will ever recover. But with God, all things are possible.
In your time of pain, do not expect to understand why, or even accept that
brighter days will come. But let down your guard. Allow Jesus to hold you. The
scars in His hands run deeper than we can possibly imagine. They hold within
them every pain of every hurt sin has brought to this life. With that I can
confidently say He understands what you are going through--and He will remain
with you throughout.
