Psalm 42:1, NIV: As the deer pants for streams of water, so
my soul pants for you, O God.
What is Heaven? Where is Heaven? And what will do there? There are many things
about Heaven we are uncertain about. And it’s hard to imagine something we have
never experienced here on earth. There are, however, many things we can be sure
of. The Bible tells us a number of truths about Heaven, but the one truth I
consider to be the greatest, is that Heaven is where we will be eternally in the
presence of God. It is our primary hope in glory that we will be forever with
Him. “My soul thirsts for God, for the living God,” the psalmist writes, “When
can I go and meet with God?” (Psalm 42:2). Paul concurs, “I am torn between the
two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far” (Phil.
1:23). I have to admit that there are some days more than others that I am
excited about the day that He will call me Home. It is my hope, however, that
all of us who call Jesus ‘Lord’, will live each day in anticipation of being in
His presence--one day in Heaven--but also while remaining here on this earth.
