Psalm 42:3, NIV: My tears have been my food day and night, while
men say to me all day long, "Where is your God?"
For some of us, there will be times in our lives where life will seem like a
meaningless pursuit. It is a difficult place to be—your own private desert—a
place no one else seems to understand. Chances are, if you are there now, or
have ever been there, that you could not begin to know how to relate what you
were feeling to someone else, or perhaps even to yourself. “Why are you
downcast, O my soul?” David asks, “Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in
God.” Sometimes it is so very hard to determine what is bothering us. Sometimes
nothing seems certain—nothing! It is in those times we must gather all the
strength we can to throw off everything else but God! Think about nothing, and
feel for nothing, but let all that we are focus on Him. He is our certainty, our
Rock, our sure foundation. He is the answer when all else seems indiscernible.
