Ephesians 1:13, NIV: And you also were included in Christ when you
heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were
marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.
I have several books I have bought for my work. Following common practice, I
mark my books with my name so that others may use them, but remember to whom the
books belong. Just as they know to whom the books belong, they also know what to
expect to see inside the books. Similarly, you and I are marked. We are marked
with the evidence of Christ who indwells us. Because of the Name that is placed
on us, others should be able to know to Whom we belong—as well as what they
should be able to expect to see inside. If we belong to Christ, the things of
Christ should be found all throughout who we are. But if the things of the world
are found in us, to whom do we belong, and whose name will be found written upon
us? Let us be careful not to be deceived—that which is seen in us, is the
evidence of whom we belong to.
