Hebrews 12:2, NIV:  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

In writing, there is a technique known as brainstorming. It can be used in various ways, but for our purposes, let’s consider it a technique with a single goal—that being to focus our thoughts. For this exercise, we are going to pick as our topic, Jesus. What comes to mind when you think of Jesus? On a piece of paper, write down everything you can think of. Take your time. Once you have done this, go back through the list and reflect on each item? Do more thoughts come to mind? Write those thoughts down as well. Revisit and review your list throughout the next several days, making notes, jotting down new ideas, and above all, praying and thanking God for each item. Perhaps you’ve realized this is not really a writing exercise at all. This is not an exercise to make you an author, but to enable you to fix your eyes on the Author. There are many means we can use to draw our thoughts toward Christ. Let us make the most of every opportunity to do just that.
