Romans 8:18, NIV: I consider that our present sufferings are not
worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
Perhaps you have faced storms over the past year. Perhaps you have looked for
the glory revealed by God in such times—perhaps not. Maybe you faced no real
trials at all, but completed another year as many others. What have you learned
from the last year that you can take into the next? What do you plan to learn in
the year ahead? With the beginning of a new year, each of us hopes for a better
year than those before. We often hope for the new year to be one full of peace,
prosperity and joy. Those are easy things to embrace. Yet perhaps each of us
should be willing to embrace the storms that we will face this year, ride them
out and allow God's work in our lives to bring the truest prosperity we will
ever know--as we are shaped after the image of our Lord.
