Ephesians 3:12-13, NIV: I ask you, therefore, not to be discouraged
because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory.
I am lifted up--not only that I might stand, but that I might help others to
stand also. I may suffer, yet it is not only for personal gain, but also so
others might gain through what Christ would do through my suffering. I am
counted worthy to suffer, and as a result, I am being shaped to be a more
suitable instrument for God’s Hand. If through my suffering, others discover the
life that is only found in Jesus Christ, then my suffering is worth it. Jesus
said, “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his
friends.” It is my nature to run from suffering, to seek escape from pain, to
flee from difficulty. But if I should see through the suffering to the glory
that Christ can bring through it, then perhaps I will remain until He
accomplishes His purposes to the greater good, and to the glory of God.
