Psalm 42:11, NIV: Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

"What have I to live for?" I may ask myself. "What is there here for me?" Life--it seems--is no life at all. It is a running together of days. It is a meaningless pursuit of things that will not last. "We do not live to work, but we work to live," it is said. It is sad to think that when we have worked that there is nothing left to give, and so very energy left to live. Yes life can be exhausting. But it does not have to be defeating. Life may seem to have beaten you down, and you may not feel you have the strength to get back up. But there is strength, and there is an answer, and there is victory for all of us in Christ. Why is it we become downcast? Perhaps it is because we take our eyes off of our Hope who is Christ, and we focus on the world instead. Why is it we become weary? Perhaps it is because we are not abiding in Christ, and being filled with the things of God. A body cannot have strength if it is not fed. There is no question that life will deal some tough times--but there is no question that God is able to meet all of our needs and get us through the toughest of times.
