Ezekiel 12:1-2, NIV: The word of the LORD came to me: "Son of man, you
are living among a rebellious people. They have eyes to see but do not see and
ears to hear but do not hear, for they are a rebellious people.
Would you close your ears to Godís Truth? Chances are, you already have. How
does that strike you? Are you curious, or does that make you become defensive?
Not everyone who confronts you will have a Word from God for you, but you may
want to consider that some people might. We do not always like being confronted
with words that convict us. But with Godís help, we can become better at
weighing what is said and taking it to God; asking Him to reveal His Truth to
us--and to do so with a truly humble heart. Consider the people of Jesusí day.
God, in Christ, was among them. He was teaching the Truth to them daily. Yet so
many shut their ears, unwilling to listen. God uses many means to speak to us.
We must be ever mindful to keep a listening ear and to keep the walls of defense
from being raised.
