Romans 12:15, NIV:  Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

Ministry is active—and it’s intimate. Right? When you consider what it means to minister to someone, what do you think of? Is ministry something that is done at church by ministers only? Is ministry something that we do for someone else? What does it mean to minister as Jesus would? Ministry can come in many forms, but the heart is often the same. True ministry comes from a heart that is willing to sacrifice one’s own concerns to take up the concerns of another. It comes from a heart that is willing to see another, to come along side of them, and to walk with them through whatever it is they are going through. Out from love of Christ, we join with those in need, shouldering the load with them, as though it is our load as well as theirs. It is not a distant service, but an up close and personal, hand in hand undertaking. If it is not—perhaps something is missing.
