Daniel 10:12, NIV:  Then he continued, "Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.”

You’ve probably heard the expression, “Look out for number one.” Maybe you’ve heard someone say, “You have to look out for yourself because no one else will.” Perhaps someone has said to you, “You can’t just let people walk on you.” Well, it’s not necessary, someone else will, and yes—you can. It all depends on where you place your trust, and in Whom you find your security. The truth of the matter is, God is in control. He has your best interest at heart. He knows where you are and where you are going and what it is you will need to get there. If you trust God, trust Him with everything. If in a situation you feel the need to assert yourself, trust God. His wisdom will guide you and may lead you to hold your peace. Our wisdom will often have us try to take control, take the higher ground, and get to a good vantage point. Yet there is no higher vantage point than that at which God is, and no greater wisdom than He offers. As for the higher ground—it is a place wherein you know that you know that after all is said and done—you have humbled yourself and obeyed God’s will to the best of your ability.
