John 8:32, NIV:  Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

We are often bound by so many chains. Some chains are the invisible ties that bind you, and can elude you for great lengths of time before being discovered. Some chains are known to you, yet you have not discovered how to be set free from them. Perhaps some of them have held you for so long that you have grown accustomed to them, and have decided that they are something you will just have to live with. But if you seek His truth, His truth will set you free…right? Can you agree? Perhaps you have tried to be free from something, and feel that you are seeking Christ’s truth regarding it. Then why is it you still feel chained? Perhaps the chains that hold you are those of misunderstanding God’s purpose within a heartache or trial. Maybe you have not surrendered to Him by saying, “Lord, I don’t understand. But I know you have my best interest at heart. Thy will be done.” God’s will never chains you but sets you free. Sometimes it frees you from expecting Him to answer you according to your will. There is no question His truth sets you free. But the freedom He brings does not promise freedom from troubles—but freedom in the midst of them.
