1 Peter 2:11, KJV: Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and
pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.
It is easy to cling to many things in this life: homes, careers, material wealth,
prized possessions, and ambitions, to name only a few. But scripture tells us that this
world is not our home, for we who are God's children are citizens of a place not of this
world. We are sojourners in a foreign land. The customs and lifestyles of this world our
not ours, and as such, should not be what we long for. We should never be content to build
sandcastles on the shores of a passing world, when our efforts are best spent building the
walls on the foundation of Christ for a home we will know for eternity.
