Newness of Life

Romans 6:4, NASB: Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
We all know a day is coming when we will leave this world for our eternal home. When we die, we expect to cross into the presence of Christ forever. We do not expect
it to be anything like what we have and know in this life. Yet, Paul tells us that we have already “been buried with Him
(Christ) through baptism into death…raised…so we too might walk in newness of life.” How different should our old life in the world be from our new life in Jesus? We would not expect heaven to look like earth. We would not expect God’s new creation to look like the old corruptible things of a sinful world. Why would we expect a new creation in Christ, to look much
like the old creature?
